Oyo State Police Command Parade 4 Suspects involves in Several Crimes

Again, through strategic community engagements, and intelligence-led policing the Command has continued to unlock new pathways to effective policing of the state.

In furtherance of the above, the Command’s security architecture has been thoroughly reviewed to enable continuous laudable strides in Crime-fighting while anchoring on the virtues of professional competence and respect for the rule of law.

While January came with its audacious security challenges, the Command also upscaled its crime control and call-response timing mechanism through constant personnel retraining and utilization of technology in our quest for a safer Oyo State.

It is on this premise that I announce that our darling pacesetter state will be witnessing the largest gathering of Police delegates from within and outside the country, from the 25th of February-March 3rd, 2024 as it plays host to the Bi-annual Police Games, tagged, “OLUYOLE 2024”.

Also worthy of mention is that the Command through painstaking forensic and intelligence-based investigations has apprehended suspected killers of the late Mrs Olaitan Gbenle, “f” (Deceased) who was brutally murdered in her apartment around Agbede Agbofiati Community, Apata area Ibadan in the 10th of November, 2023 thus bringing closure to one of our intricate high profile cases for 2023. The two(2) vehicles and generators stolen from her after being killed were recovered while four (4) suspects who jointly participated in the killing of the deceased were arrested.

In a similar vein, it was the end of the road for another suspected notorious criminal gang who had been unleashing mayhem within parts of the Ibadan Metropolis. This group was allegedly responsible for an attack on a pregnant woman in labor while on her way to the hospital for delivery with her husband, on 17/07/2023 around 2000hrs (8 pm local time).

The suspects also dispossessed the couple of their TOYOTA VENZA vehicles containing items required for their baby’s delivery which include; baby items, baby clothes, and other accessories.

Thankfully, the eagle-eyed operatives of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping squad immediately swung into action deploying purposefully human and technical intelligence gathering which eventually led to the arrest of (3) suspects in connection with the incident and the recovery of one (1) locally cut to size gun, four(4) live cartridges, the dispossessed Toyota Venza 2013 Model with Reg No KRD335JE, a Lexus ES350, a Lexus RX330 with Reg No SMK169JH, Toyota Highlander with Reg No BWR 134GJ, Toyota Hilux with Reg No APP435XM and a Ford Focus with Reg No KSF981SF.

In summary, a total of thirty-five (35) Male suspects would be paraded today for offenses inclusive of Murder, Armed Robbery, cultism, and other criminal vices.

Furthermore, a total of Eighteen (18) exotic vehicles, Cash sum to the tune of Eight hundred and twenty thousand Naira (#820,000) only, Sixty-four assorted Mobile Phones, One (1) Master Key, One (1) DAF Trailer, Six (6) assorted firearms, one (1) Human skull, One (1) Generating set and Three thousand, one hundred and thirty-seven (3,137) Cartons of seasoning cubes valued at about eighteen million naira (#18,000,000) only were recovered.

In conclusion, while reassuring members of the public particularly residents of Oyo state about the Command’s unflinching commitment towards their safety and protection as enshrined in the constitution, the command advocates once again that the business of security is all-encompassing, hence, the need for the mantra; ”if you see something say something and the Police would do something immediately.”

Finally, the Oyo State Police Command under my watch is sounding a strong note of warning to all sinister-minded individuals to stay clear of the State as the command would vehemently resist them from turning Oyo State into their haven.

The cases on display are as follows:

1. ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS CUM MURDERERS, CRIMINAL RECEIVERS ALONGSIDE RECOVERY STOLEN VEHICLES:
   On 10th November 2023 at about 0030hrs, four (4) suspected members of a notorious criminal gang that had been terrorizing members of the public at different locations within the Ibadan metropolis invaded the house of one late MRS OLAITAN OMOTOLA GBENLE, ‘f’, at AGBEDE AGBOFIATI Community, APATA area, Ibadan.
   The suspects who were reportedly armed with sophisticated firearms and other dangerous weapons attacked the Sixty- Eight (68) year old woman at her residence equally dispossessing her of huge sums of money, mobile phones, big generating sets, laptops, and many other valuable items, all of which were carted away in her Toyota Camry Car and a Toyota Corolla cars.
   As if that was not enough, the suspects eventually murdered the deceased, leaving her in a pool of blood.
   In furtherance of the above and upon the receipt of the incident’s petition, the Command was swayed to immediately identify, track, and apprehend all the perpetrators of the heinous crime and as recover all the items carted away.
   Sequel to this, a team of forensic experts and detectives attached to the Command Monitoring Unit immediately swung into action through detailed intelligence gathering and purposeful investigations, the suspected leader of the armed robbery syndicate, one BELLO OLALEKAN ‘M’ and two of his syndicate members identified as BISIRIYU OLALEKAN and SIMEON OJEI ‘M’ were arrested at their various hideouts in connection with the crime.
   Upon interrogations, the suspects voluntarily confessed to the crime while the leader of the suspected criminal gang explained that the victim was murdered because he realized the deceased saw him during the armed robbery operation.
   In the same vein, further investigations led to the arrest of a criminal receiver, FEMI OMISORE ‘M’. The two (2) vehicles and a Fireman Generating Set, hitherto carted away from the deceased were later recovered as well.
   An investigation is still ongoing. Further developments will be communicated later.

2. CONSPIRACY/ARREST OF SUSPECTED ROBBERS

On the 17th July 2023, at about 2000hrs, there was a distress call from a new couple, that they were attacked by unknown gunmen on their way to the hospital for his wife’s delivery and the armed robbers eventually dispossessed them of their Toyota Venza car and went away with two big bags containing new baby clothes and accessories at gunpoint.

Upon receipt of the information, eagle eye operatives from the Anti-Kidnapping department went after the armed robbers armed with Human and Technical Intelligence sources, Intelligence gathering led to the arrest of one Gbenga Sokunbi ‘m’ and during the execution of a search warrant, Toyota Venza, and two bags containing new baby clothes and accessories that were snatched at gunpoint on a date were recovered in his possession.

Further Investigation revealed that the said Gbenga Sokunbi ‘m’ and his gang carried out various armed robbery operations between July 2023 to December 2023 within the Ibadan metropolis. After painstaking investigation the duo of Olusegun Adeleke ‘m’ and Segun Babatunde ‘m’ were arrested as principal members of the armed robbery syndicate terrorizing Ibadan and its environs, one locally made cut-to-size guns and four (4) live cartridges were recovered from them. The following vehicle TOYOTA VENZA 2013 MODEL KRD335JE, LEXUS ES350 FJK956JE, LEXUS RX330 SMK169JH, TOYOTA HIGHLANDER BWR134GJ, TOYOTA HILUX APP435XM and FORD FOCUS KSF981SF snatched at gunpoint at different locations within Ibadan metropolis between the said months were recovered from them, at Lagos State, Ogun State and River State respectively.

They have all since voluntarily confessed to the crime and are helping with the rest of the investigation.

3. ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS CUM KIDNAPPERS
   On 29/12/2023 at about 1850hrs, some suspected members of a dreaded armed robbery cum kidnapping syndicate intercepted one MUSA (Surname undisclosed) and his wife while returning from the venue of JUMAT prayers in OTU town.
   The couple was attacked and dispossessed of their mobile phones and money in their possession before they were whisked away to an unknown destination.
   The suspects later contacted the victims’ relatives and demanded a ransom of Twenty Million Naira (N 20, 000, 000. 00) only ransom with threats that they would be killed should their demands be ignored.
   The incident was then reported at OTU Division and in the course of their preliminary investigation, the victims were rescued by local vigilante men who combed the bush where they were held hostage with one of the kidnappers apprehended and handed over to the police at OTU Division.
   Subsequently, the suspect was later transferred to the Command Monitoring Unit where upon interrogation, he voluntarily confessed to the crime and later assisted in the arrest of two other members of the criminal gang identified as MOHAMMED SANNI ‘M’ and HARUNA USMAN ‘M’.
   Investigation continues and further developments will be communicated later.

4. ARREST OF SUSPECTED HIGHWAY ARMED ROBBERS, CRIMINAL RECEIVERS AND
   RECOVERY OF FIVE ROBBED VEHICLES:
   On 6/1/2024 at about 2040hrs, members of a Highway Armed Robbery Syndicate who have been terrorizing motorists along Ibadan/Ife Expressway intercepted one AKEEM ‘m’ (surname undisclosed) on the Highway and after they had attacked him, the suspects dispossessed him of cell phones, a huge sum of money and his SIENNA Space Bus with REG. NO. BDJ 153 ES.
   The incident was reported at the nearest Police Station.
   However, a team of Policemen attached to the Command Monitoring Unit immediately launched a discreet investigation into the inside, and in the process, five (5) members of the criminal gang identified as; ADEKUNLE JOSEPH ‘M’, QUADRI JIMOH ‘M’, EMMANUEL DANJUMA ‘M’, MUSA MUHAMMED ‘M’ and JIMOH SHUAIBU ‘M’ were arrested at their various hideouts in Oyo State, KWARA and OSUN States.
   Upon interrogations, the suspects confessed to the crime and series of armed robbery operations they had masterminded on different highways across Oyo State.
   Further Discreet Investigation later led to the arrest of three (3) of the syndicate’s criminal receivers who gave their names as; AKODU FEMI ‘M’, OLADAPO OLATIDE, and AA BADMUS ‘M’.
   The SIENNA Space Bus that was snatched from the victim and five (5) additional vehicles, one NISSAN Rouge, with REG. NO. SMK 424 HV, Toyota Camry Car with REG. NO. EPE 720 JC, Nissan MICRA, Toyota Matrix with REG. NO. BDG 889 JB and Toyota Camry Car A.K.A Spider which they all confessed to have carted away from their owners were recovered.
   Investigation continues with assurances of further developments to be communicated accordingly.

5. ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS CUM KIDNAPPERS:
   On 22/12/2023 at about 1800hrs, suspected members of a dreaded armed robbery cum kidnapping syndicate invaded the residence of one ALHAJI ABDULAHI ‘m’ at an undisclosed Village via TEDE area of OKE OGUN, Oyo State with sophisticated firearms and some other dangerous weapons, attacking him and his Son, before dispossessing them of their mobile phones, and huge sum of money and eventually whisking ALHAJI ABDULAHI and his son away to an unknown destination.
   The Suspected Armed Robbers cum kidnappers later contacted the victims’ relatives and demanded a ransom of Ten Million Naira (N10, 000, 000. 00) only as ransom with threats that the duo would be killed if the amount was not paid within a stipulated Forty-Eight hours, (48hrs) timeline.
   Fortunately, the incident was immediately reported at TEDE Division, and a team of Policemen and members of a local vigilance group were dispatched to comb the thick forest location where the abductees were held hostage.
   Thankfully the kidnappers were unsettled leading them to flee thus creating a window for the victims to escape and return to their village unscathed.
   The victims subsequently provided useful information about their abductors and three members of the criminal gang who later identified themselves as ALI IBRAHIM ‘M’, MOHAMMED IKUN ‘M’ and MOHAMMED TANBAYA A.K.A CHUMO ‘M’ in their various hideouts.
   The suspects were later transferred to the Command Monitoring Unit and upon interrogations, the suspects confessed to the crime and a series of other high-profile armed robbery cum kidnapping attacks they had masterminded at different locations in Oyo State.

6. ARREST OF SUSPECTED RITUALISTS AND RECOVERY OF HUMAN HEAD:
   On 10/1/2024 upon discreet intelligence gathering carried out by a team of Policemen attached to the SAKI Division. The criminal activities of a suspected group of hoodlums who specialize in using Human heads and other vital Organs for Ritual Purposes in SAKI town, Oyo State were uncovered.
   Sequel to this discovery, the team of Policemen cracked down on the suspected Ritualists at their hideout in Saki town, and in the process, two members of the criminal gang who later identified themselves as SALAMI ABDULAHI ‘M’ and ADEBISI ALIU ‘M’ were arrested in their hideout.
   One Human Head was cut off from a freshly exhumed Corpse and a local pot containing some concoctions was recovered from the possession of the suspected Ritualists.
   Upon interrogations, the suspects confessed to the crime and explained that the harvested Human Skull was from a corpse at a burial ground and was to be used for Money Rituals.

7. ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS, CRIMINAL RECEIVERS, AND RECOVERY OF TWO STOLEN VEHICLES:
   On 16th January 2024, a team of Police Operatives attached to the Command Monitoring Unit embarked on a Discreet Human Intelligence gathering to crack down on members of an inter-state car-snatching criminal cartel.
   In the process, two (2) suspected leaders of the gang later identified as JOSEPH NWOLE ‘M’ and ISAIAH OMAH ‘M’ were arrested at their respective hideouts with one Toyota Land Cruiser Jeep with REG NO BEN 444 HT which they subsequently confessed to having snatched from its rightful owner at GUNPOINT.
   Further discreet investigation and the confessions of the (2) two suspects later led to the arrest of the syndicate’s criminal receivers, NGBOKE SUNDAY ‘M’ and ONU SUNDAY in ONDO State.
   All the suspects confessed to having masterminded a series of armed robbery operations at different locations in Oyo State.
   One KIA OPTIMA Car which they equally confessed to having snatched from its owner was recovered alongside one Pump Action Riffle which is part of the weapons used for their criminal activities.

8. ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBER AND RECOVERY OF SIXTY (60) PIECES OF DIFFERENT EXPENSIVE MOBILE PHONES:
   On 13th January 2024 at about 1430hrs, credible information was received at the Command Monitoring Unit through community policing initiatives that the leader of a suspected criminal gang specialized in ‘’snatching expensive mobile phones’’ from unsuspecting members of the public was sighted along the ARO area of Ogbomoso town in possession of a large cache of Mobile Phones suspected to have been stolen or robbed from their owners.
   In furtherance of the above, a team of operatives attached to the Ogbomoso operational base of the Monitoring Unit swung into action and in the process, the suspect who was later identified as UMARU SALISU ‘M’ was arrested in possession of Sixty (60) pieces of assorted mobile phones.
   Upon interrogation, the suspect was unable to give any satisfactory explanation about the mobile phones before a further discreet investigation revealed that the mobile phones were snatched from their owners at different locations in OGBOMOSO and other parts of Oyo State.
   The defendant later confessed that he was about to take all the phones to Lagos State where they would be sold off to his criminal receiver.
   The investigation is ongoing and further developments will be communicated later.

SUSPECT: UMARU SALISU ‘M’ AGE 35 YEARS

9. ARREST OF SUSPECTED ROBBERS WHO REMOVE CARS FROM PARK:
   On 3rd February 2024 at about 0600hrs, credible information was received by a team of Police operatives attached to the Command Monitoring Unit while on an intelligence-based anti-crime patrol that two members of a criminal gang who specialize in removing cars from where they are parked by their unsuspecting owners were sighted along IGBETI road in possession of a Toyota Camry Car suspected to have been stolen or robbed from its owner.
   Sequel to the receipt of this actionable information, the operatives moved swiftly to the area, and in the process, the two suspects later identified as ABDULQUADRI USMAN ‘M’ and SOLOMON ADEDEJI ‘M’ were arrested and the unregistered Toyota Camry Car was recovered.
   Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed that they removed the car from where it was parked by its owner with the use of a ‘’Master Key’’ which was subsequently recovered from them.
   They equally confessed to a series of similar criminal activities at different locations in OKE-OGUN.

10. HIJACKING AND DIVERSION OF A DAF TRUCK LOADED WITH THREE THOUSAND, ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY-SEVEN (3,137) “CARTONS OF “TERA MAGGI’’ ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS:
    On 4th February 2024 at about 2300hrs, credible information was received in the course of confidence-building patrols carried out by operatives of the Command Monitoring Unit, Eleyele, Ibadan that some suspected members of a criminal gang specialized in Hijacking and Diversion of Trailers loaded with valuable goods had just hijacked a DAF Truck loaded voluminous quantities of consumable items near KRISHAT INDIAN Company located along Ibadan / Lagos Expressway.
    The Intelligence Report indicated that the suspects had moved the hijacked truck to their hideout where the goods would be distributed to their criminal receivers.
    Sequel to the receipt of this information, the operatives swung into action, and in the process five members of the armed robbery syndicate who later identified themselves as MUTAIARU ALIU ‘M’, WAHAB IBRAHIM ‘M’, AYODELE OLALEKAN ‘M’, OJO SULAIMAN ‘M’ and TAIWO BABATUNDE ‘M’ were arrested in connection with the crime.
    The Hijacked and Diverted DAF Truck was recovered and upon inspection of the content it was discovered that the truck was loaded with Three Thousand One Hundred and Thirty- Seven (3, 137) Cartons of TERA MAGGI, valued at about Eighteen million naira (# 18,000000.00)
    The investigation is ongoing with assurances of diligent prosecution upon completion of the investigation.

    On 6/1/2024, a team of Police Operatives attached to the Command Monitoring Unit received an Intelligence Report that a suspected leader of a criminal gang who had been terrorizing members of the public in Ibadan and other parts of Oyo State was sighted in his hideout within Ibadan metropolis in possession of one SIENNA Vehicle with REG NO EKY976HZ suspected to have been snatched from its owner.
    Acting on this Intelligence Report, the police operatives immediately swung into action, and in the process, the criminal kingpin who later identified himself as AFEEZ LASISI ‘M’ was arrested and the SIENNA Space Vehicle was recovered.
    Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed that the vehicle was snatched from its rightful owner by him along the Ibadan / Lagos Expressway and when the owner of the SIENNA Vehicle, one Festus ‘M’ was contacted, he confirmed that the vehicle was snatched from him at GUNPOINT along Ibadan / Lagos Expressway.
    The suspect equally confessed to having masterminded a series of similar armed robbery operations in different locations within the Ibadan metropolis.
